In the West, plot is commonly thought to revolve around conflict: a confrontation between two or more elements, in which one ultimately dominates the other. The standard three- and five-act plot structures—which permeate Western media—have conflict written into their very…
This is a really interesting essay. Thoughts?
Philosophy aside, this is apposite because I just got out of a Korean dramedy (Sunny), and was pondering how the plot structure — in particular, the way information was revealed, and when it was revealed — was very different from how Hollywood would have constructed a similar movie, even though it seemed to hit all the “beats”.
i find this almost completely baffling but also really really interesting? XD i guess i find it most fascinating because i don’t particularly care for writing conflict myself (see: everything i’ve ever written?? though it occurs to me i could have just internalized the idea of what makes conflict…????) but i have no formal understanding of how this system works and i don’t know how to apply to things i’ve read/written/experienced.

Does anyone else have the headcanon that when Stiles’s mum got sick (we don’t know what from but I’m assuming a form of cancer seems the most likely), he shaved his head to make her feel better and try and be with her on it and then just left it at the buzzcut it is now?
Why Sailor Moon Matters – The New Anime and Media Representation
Sailor Moon is getting an make-over for 2013, and get ready to be surprised that Sailor Moon wasn’t what you thought it was, as explained by Caitlin Donovan.
When I was little, I never thought of Sailor Uranus and Neptune as lovers or cousins. I always thought of them as having a level of friendship deeper than that of the original Scouts that made them comfortable with being completely themselves around the other despite how different they were in tastes. They seemed completely opposite, since one was soft and girly and the other was loud and tomboyish. Ever since I saw those two, I had wanted a friendship that close to someone. Even now I can’t imagine them as lesbian lovers, as offending as that might sound to the social justice bloggers. To me, they’ll always be best friends that only need the other with them to be happy.
This is actually one of my pet peeves. Being in queer love does not mean you can’t also have a deep friendship. Naoko Takeuchi actually said of Haruka and Michiru “the friendship between them is so deep that it became love”. They’re friends who are completely comfortable with each other and lovers. Wanting to erase the lovers part or deciding that “ruins” their friendship is just…bigotry and nothing more. You not being able to imagine they’re lesbians doesn’t change the fact they are. Deal with it.
^^^^
When you’re saying “I can’t see them as lesbian lovers, they’re just best friends” you’re basically just saying you can’t see them as lesbians. Most/many romances are best friends as well as lovers. They’re lesbians, they’re in love, and they make jokes about having sex.
And fuck anyone who says that calling out the homophobia of denying an obvious romantic and sexual relationship as just SJ bloggers getting offended.
gettin real fuckin tired a this bullshit man
The fact there’s still people arguing over if Haruka and Michiru are gay 20 years after the anime despite THE CREATOR SAYING SO OVER AND OVER AND OVER…
Sooooooooo tired of this shit. So tired.
it’s one of the few things that can make me see red, omg.
Party (XXO).

this song makes me feel the way the first few episodes of kagiheya did, like I DON’T CARE WHAT ELSE YOU DO, THIS IS PERFECT AND I’M KEEPING IT FOREVER. and kagiheya remained perfect, so like, maybe glam will continue to make music along the lines of HEY LADIES, HERE IS A GIRL GROUP THAT WANTS TO KISS YOU. :D?
